This policy explains how VoiceSmiths ("we", "the Service") handles your personal data. The Service is operated independently by an individual developer. By using the Service you confirm you have read and understood this policy.

1. What we collect

You give us

• Account data — email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), display name. If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive the email address and avatar it returns.
• Your content — scripts you submit for synthesis, audio and video you upload, pronunciation dictionary rules, and conversations with the voice assistant.
• Payment data — order amount, order number, payment status. We never see or store your full card number or payment credentials — these go directly to the payment processor.

Collected automatically

• Usage data — pages visited, features used, generation counts and character volumes, credit ledger entries.
• Device and logs — IP address, browser and OS, timestamps, error logs.
• Cookies and local storage — to keep you signed in, remember your language, and count free trial uses. You can clear or block cookies, but sign-in will stop working.

2. How we use it

• To provide speech synthesis, voice cloning, dubbing and related features;
• To create and maintain your account and meter credits;
• To process orders, issue receipts and handle refunds;
• To prevent fraud, abuse and scripted quota farming (free trials are counted per IP);
• To debug and improve the product;
• To comply with a lawful request from a competent authority.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Who we share it with

We share only the minimum needed for each function:

4. International transfers

The Service is operated from China and relies on providers located outside your country and outside mainland China. This means:

• The text, audio and video you submit are transferred to overseas servers for processing;
• Generated audio may be stored outside your jurisdiction;
• Your usage data may be collected by an overseas analytics provider.

By using the Service you consent to these transfers. If you are in the EEA or UK, note that we do not currently offer Standard Contractual Clauses; if that is a requirement for you, please do not upload personal data to the Service. Do not upload confidential, regulated, or large volumes of sensitive personal data.

5. How long we keep it

• Account data — while your account exists;
• Order and credit records — 5 years from the transaction, as accounting rules require;
• Generated audio — until you delete it, or 30 days after account closure;
• Submitted source text and audio — not retained long term after processing; may persist briefly in short-lived diagnostic logs;
• Server logs — normally under 90 days.

6. Your rights

You may at any time:

• Access and correct your account data in your profile;
• Delete content you generated;
• Close your account — associated personal data is deleted or anonymised, except transaction records we are legally required to keep;
• Withdraw consent by ceasing to use the relevant feature;
• Request a copy of your data or object to how it is processed.

7. Security

We use HTTPS in transit, one-way password hashing, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Keep your password private and do not share your account.

If a data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the relevant authority as required by law.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 14. If you are under 18, use it only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. If we learn we have collected a child's data, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as features or laws change. Material changes will be announced in the product or by email. The effective date above shows the latest revision.
