A character voice generator gives a story's characters their own voices: a wise old storyteller, a cartoon villain, an anime heroine, a gentleman butler. VoiceSmiths has 24 ready-made character voices and a designer that builds a new one from a sentence. Pick a character and type a line below: free, no sign-up, two tries a day.

Ready-made character voices

Design a character voice from a sentence

When none fits, describe the one you hear in your head: "a gruff old sea captain, slow and amused, with a raspy laugh". The prompt-to-voice page designs two voices a day free; designed in the workbench (20 credits), the voice is yours to cast like any other.

Voice: Gemini designed voice · Monkey KingEnglishModel: gemini-3.8-flash-tts30 s
Transcript:[laughs] See? They thought they had a trick up their sleeve, eh? Did they? To trap me, the mighty master of mischief, in something so petty. [laughs] Nonsense. I'm faster than a thousand lightning bolts, and all that big mouth talk about sealing me away, [laughs] all the gods, I simply shrug. Look like a hundred sleepy owls lost in a fog. [laughs]

For a robot, a phone call or a voice in a big hall, add an effect to any character at no extra cost.

Put several characters in one scene

Characters sound best talking to each other. Paste a scene into the audio drama studio: it finds every character, casts a voice for each from the 54 curated voices, tags the emotion line by line and renders the scene with subtitles. To assign the voices yourself, use multi-speaker text to speech.

FAQ

Is this character voice generator free? You can try it free on this page without signing up: two clips a day, up to 200 characters each, with any of the character voices offered. Longer scripts in the workbench cost 7 credits per 100 characters; the one-time $3.90 trial pack has 150 credits.

Can I make my own character voice? Yes. Describe the voice in one sentence (age, accent, mood, how they talk). The prompt-to-voice page designs two voices a day free; to keep one and use it, design it in the workbench for 20 credits. Saved voices can be cast as characters in an audio drama.

Can several characters talk in one scene? Yes. Paste a scene into the audio drama studio: it works out who says each line and gives every character a voice, or use multi-speaker text to speech to assign voices yourself. The whole scene renders as one file with subtitles.

Are these voices copies of real actors or famous characters? No. Every character voice here was designed from a text description, not cloned from a voice actor or taken from a show or game. That also means you can use what you generate commercially under the terms of service.

Which languages do the character voices speak? Any of them can speak 90+ languages on Eleven v4, but each keeps the accent it was designed with. Most were designed in Mandarin or English; K-Drama Heroine, French Elegance, Latin Charmer and German Engineer were designed for their own languages and sound most natural in them.
