About this story
田螺姑娘是流传很广的中国民间故事，最早的完整记载见于旧题东晋陶潜（陶渊明）所撰的志怪小说集《搜神后记》中的《白水素女》：晋安帝时，侯官（今福建福州一带）的孤儿谢端勤劳本分，天帝派天河中的白水素女化作大螺替他守家做饭，被发现后留下螺壳飘然而去。这一版忠于原典的情节和结局，只把邻里之间的对话写得更生动；民间后来还有许多版本，让田螺姑娘留下来和谢端成了亲。
