About this story
阿拉克涅的故事出自古罗马诗人奥维德的《变形记》第六卷。吕底亚姑娘阿拉克涅织布的手艺无人能比,却不肯承认是雅典娜(罗马人称密涅瓦)所教,还向女神发起挑战,最后被变成了蜘蛛。原诗里两人织的画面、老婆婆的劝告和撒草药汁变蜘蛛都在,但结局更阴暗;这一版把冲突留在织布比赛上,结尾写得温和一些。
