A narrator voice generator reads a script the way a narrator would: steady, clear and paced for listening, whether it is a documentary, a YouTube explainer, a bedtime story or a chapter of a book. On VoiceSmiths you paste the script, pick a narrator voice and download an MP3 with subtitles timed to every word. Hear the finished narrations first.

A documentary narrator, British Butler:

ボイス: British Butler英語モデル: eleven_v410秒
原稿:Every autumn, the Arctic tern leaves one end of the Earth for the other. In a single lifetime, it flies the distance to the Moon... three times over.

A YouTube explainer narrator, Tech Founder:

ボイス: Tech Founder英語モデル: eleven_v49秒
原稿:Here's the thing about compound interest. It's boring for twenty years, and then, almost overnight, it isn't. Let me show you why.

A storybook narrator, Sweet Girl:

ボイス: Sweet Girl (EN)英語モデル: eleven_v49秒
原稿:Once upon a time, a small fox found a lantern that glowed only when someone told the truth. So, of course, she took it to the king.

And a traditional Mandarin storyteller, Old Storyteller, in the style of Chinese pingshu ("That year, it snowed on Chang'an for three days and nights. At the city gate, a young man arrived with a zither on his back."):

ボイス: Old Storyteller中国語モデル: eleven_v48秒
原稿:话说那一年,长安城下了三天三夜的大雪。城门口,来了一个背着琴的年轻人。

What people use AI narration for

  • YouTube and faceless channels: explainers, top-10s, history and science.
  • Documentaries and brand films: a calm voice over footage, with subtitles ready for the edit.
  • Courses and training: lessons and walkthroughs; the pronunciation dictionary fixes product names and jargon.
  • Kids' stories and picture books: a warm narrator, and character voices for the dialogue.
  • Audiobooks: one narrator for a whole book or a full cast per chapter, in the audiobook maker.

How to get natural narration

  1. Write for the ear. Short sentences, one idea each; a narrator breathes at full stops.
  2. Use ellipses for the pause before a reveal ("to the Moon... three times over").
  3. Spell out numbers and abbreviations the way they should be read, or add them to the pronunciation dictionary.
  4. Keep one narrator per video or series so the voice becomes part of the channel.

Make a narration in the workbench

  1. Open the voice workbench with British Butler and Eleven v4 selected, or start from Tech Founder for an explainer.
  2. Paste your script, up to 5,000 characters per generation.
  3. Generate, then download the MP3 and the SRT subtitles. For a narrator only your channel has, design one with prompt to voice or clone your own voice.

FAQ

Is this narrator voice generator free? Listening is free: every sample on this page plays for anyone, no account needed. Generating narration happens in the VoiceSmiths workbench at 7 credits per 100 characters; the trial pack ($3.90 for new users in the first hour after sign-up, list $9.90; 500 credits, about 7,100 characters; one-time, never expires) is the usual way to start (to try only a few lines, a first order can be the $1.99 taster pack: 100 credits, about 1,400 characters).

Which narrator voice should I use for YouTube? It depends on the channel. Explainers and tech videos suit a measured, conversational voice such as Tech Founder; documentaries and history suit a calm, authoritative one such as British Butler; kids' stories suit a warm, bright one such as Sweet Girl. Hear all three in the samples at the top of this page.

How long can one narration be? The workbench takes up to 5,000 characters per generation, about five minutes of speech. For a whole chapter or book with one narrator, the long-form mode takes up to 50,000 characters per job; see the audiobook maker.

Do I get subtitles with the narration? Yes. Every generation comes with the start and end time of each character, so you can download SRT subtitles aligned to the audio, ready for CapCut, Premiere or YouTube.

Can I use AI narration in a monetized video? Yes. Audio you generate can be used commercially under our terms of service. Check your platform's own rules on labelling AI-generated content. What you may not do is pass the voice off as a real person or impersonate one.

Can I narrate in my own voice? Yes, with voice cloning: upload 1–3 minutes of clean recordings of yourself (a quiet room, no music) and the workbench reads new scripts in your voice. Only clone your own voice, or someone else's with their written permission.
